UCLA has officially inked three heralded basketball recruits for
the Class of 2005. Point guard Darren Collison
(Etiwanda HS / Rancho Cucamong, Calif.), swingman Michael
Roll
(Aliso Viejo HS / Aliso Niguel, Calif) and front
court player Ryan Wright (Loyola Catholic HS /
Ontario, Can.) all signed their National Letters of Intent to
attend UCLA. All three players are considered to be among the top
150 high school performers in North America. “I am happy with
this year’s class,” said coach Ben Howland. “I
think we filled our team’s needs with quality players, as
well as outstanding young men who will be joining our
program.”

WOMEN’S GOLF: The defending champion UCLA
women’s golf team’s future is looking bright. The
Bruins landed three highly-prized recruits for the Class of 2005.
Among the three future Bruins, Jane Park of Rancho
Cucamonga, Calif. is the most heralded. Park won the 2004 U.S.
Women’s Amateur Championship at the Kahkwa Club in Erie,
Penn. in August and is currently the fourth-ranked amateur in the
nation. “Jane Park is possibly the best amateur in the
country,” said women’s golf coach Carrie
Forsyth
. “She has the strongest record of any
recruit we’ve ever signed.” The Bruins also received
letters of intent from Tiffany Joh (San Diego) and
Ryann O’Toole (San Clemente).

MEN’S GOLF: The UCLA men’s golf
team won its consolation semifinal match against Washington on
Monday at the Collegiate Match Play Championships in
Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Bruins defeated the 11th-ranked
Huskies 3.5-1.5 with UCLA players at Nos. 2-4 winning their
matches.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: The NCAA announced that
UCLA will host its third-round match against Duke this Saturday at
4:00 p.m. at Drake Stadium.
