How do you think President Bush will affect the country over the
next four years? Christopher McKelvey Graduate student,
economics “I feel that it’s been four years of
bad foreign policy, and I think there’ll be four more years
of bad foreign policy. I guess I’m skeptical that
there’s going to be any democracy in Iraq. I think he’s
going to be unsuccessful at getting out of battle, and I think
that’s the most important thing for the next four years."
Kay Braden Fourth-year, music “I think that
the Christian right, or religious right, will advance greatly. I
think you’ll see a lot more Christian and conservative
agendas because he’s not worried about re-election. I mean,
you’re worried about re-electing a Republican candidate, but
he specifically isn’t worried about getting back in.”
Marco Vinceni Third-year, microbiology, immunology and
molecular genetics “I expect him to not be as
aggressive as in his first term, but I think it’s going to be
more status quo. I think he understands he doesn’t have that
clear of a mandate. Obviously he won the popular vote by a few
percentage points, but I think he feels that the Americans that
didn’t vote for him are more upset than they were four years
ago.” Sam Cayman Fifth-year, mathematics
“I think he’s going to go to war, and I’m
pro-war. He won’t nuke the Middle East, but he’ll
escalate the conflict in the Middle East, which is good because
it’ll have positive economic ramifications for the United
States versus negative economic ramifications for the Middle East,
and it’ll actually pull a great deal of revenue toward the
United States. And it’ll lessen the threat ““
it’ll secure our country as well.”
