Don’t sack the football team yet

C’mon, Jeff (Eisenberg). You mean to say that you
don’t see *any* improvement in the program from last season
to this season? Our offense is no longer one-dimensional and is
putting enough points on the board that we *should* win.

The problem is obviously with the defense, and you know who to
blame for that: Bob Toledo, whose staff somehow overlooked
recruiting any defensive linemen for this senior class.

I’ll agree with you on your overall assessment that this
season now looks bleak; I don’t think the defense can make
the improvements necessary to beat ‘SC, but we may get by
Stanford and we should be able to beat Wazzu.

I’ve seen enough improvement, though, to give me hope that
we’ll have a breakout season next year.

The return of band wars

In response to the letter titled “Cal musicians blow away
Bruin band” on Oct. 19th, it is clear that the author, Tom
Wenrich, either knows nothing about music, knows nothing about
marching bands, has a strange grudge against the Bruin Marching
Band, or all of the above. As stated by numerous Cal fans on the
way out of the stadium, “If it’s any consolation, you
have the better band.”
