FILM & TV: COMIC STORE OPENING Why is the
opening of a comic book store the Film featured event of the week?
Because it’s Kevin Smith’s new store, Jay and Silent
Bob’s Secret Stash, and to celebrate the opening Smith
himself will be present, along with Jason Mewes and possibly other
as-yet-undisclosed celebs, to sign copies of the recently released
“Clerks X” and “Jersey Girls” DVDs. The
comic king of New Jersey has finally found a home in Los Angeles
because after watching “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”
we know he doesn’t belong in Hollywood. For more info, go to
www.viewaskew.com. TUESDAY, SEPT. 7, from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
1045 WESTWOOD BLVD.; FREE

MUSIC: JACK JOHNSON Fans of the Southern
California native have yet another chance to see this modern-day
troubadour as he sings songs that all sound the same. Joining and
opening for him are G. Love & Special Sauce. So if you’re
a fan, this one’s not to be missed. Plus, they’re
playing in the beautiful outdoor Greek Theatre, where early start
times all but guarantee that music and a sunset will vie for your
personal attention. Of course, that’s probably just the way
Johnson likes it. In fact, he’s probably writing a song about
that very coincidence. For more info, go to www.greektheatrela.com.
TONIGHT at 7 p.m. GREEK THEATRE; $40.50

THEATER & ARTS: “˜LITTLE SHOP OF
HORRORS’
Opening at the Ahmanson Theatre, this
direct-from-Broadway tour tells a story familiar to anyone who is a
fan of either 1980s movie musicals or Steve Martin, who made a
memorable cameo as the story’s dreaded dentist. Check out
this full-scale production of the show, plant puppet and all. But
before you do, check out dB’s review, which you can find on
page 11. You’d hate to not even know what you may or may not
be missing. Anthony Rapp (of “Rent” fame) stars as
Seymour (Rick Moranis in the movie). For more info, go to
www.taperahmanson.com. NOW-SUNDAY, OCT. 17 AHMANSON
THEATRE; $25-$80
