What a difference a year makes.
Last year UCLA pitcher Casey Janssen had a 5.88 ERA and a 6-6
record as UCLA limped to 28-31.
But with a year of experience and maturity, the senior
transformed his game during his final campaign.
He pitched brilliantly this season as the team’s ace, with
a 10-4 record, 3.16 ERA and an over 3-1 strikeout to walk
ratio.
Janssen helped the Bruins go 35-29 and qualify for the playoffs
for the first time since 2000.
Janssen’s gem of a game against Oklahoma in the NCAA
Regionals this past weekend shone the brightest.
Facing the host of the regionals, he turned in eight shutout
innings, striking out seven while only giving up two hits and one
walk in the Bruins’ 9-1 upset over the Sooners.
