Mission of Burma
Henry Fonda Theater
June 10, 7:30 p.m. After 20 years of playing, they’re still
punk rock, and not to be cast away with the rest of your youthful
angsty tastes. Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 at the door and
are available at www.ticketweb.com.
Sonic Youth
Troubadour
June 10, 8 p.m. The noise you’ve been trying to love for the
last 10 years is finally catering to your poor uncultured ears by
salting their songs with a bit more structure then usual. This
June’s release of “Sonic Nurse” keeps the
band’s signature sound with heavy influences from their early
’90s career while shaping it up with a sharper melodic
direction. Avant-garde artist John Wiese opens. Tickets are $20 and
may be available at www.ticketmaster.com.
KROQ Weenie Roast

Verizon Wireless Amphitheater Yes, it’s that time of year
again. Time to spend just a little too much money to see too few
really cool bands and a whole bunch of pretty lame ones. Line-up
includes Beastie Boys, The Strokes, The Hives, Modest Mouse, Story
of the Year, Hoobastank, Velvet Revolver, Yellowcard, New Found
Glory, Cypress Hill, Bad Religion and The Killers. Tickets are

Little Radio
Fais Do Do
June 16, 9 p.m. Who knew? L.A. finally has a radio station worth
listening to ““ and it’s not Indie 103.1, Clear
Channel’s attempt to own the ears of even your most
pretentious, band-name-spewing, vinyl-addicted friends. Little
Radio is staking out its territory and proving you don’t have
to be big to be better at knowing what people want to hear. To
celebrate its dedication to an eagerly reviving music scene, Little
Radio broadcasts live shows with local bands every Wednesday night
at the Fais Do Do and invites you to join them. Things are looking
up when for a good night out, one doesn’t have to wait till
Friday or drive all the way to the East side. For more information
or to tune in, go to www.littleradio.com.
