Baseball team shows generosity
I was writing this letter to you to praise the Bruin baseball
team. I’m not writing to praise these great athletes on
making it into the tournament, but I wanted to let you
know the strength of character these gentlemen have.
This past friday my father passed away. Unfortunately, my
brother was traveling with the team as the trainer in Corvallis,
Ore. I knew it would be difficult for my brother to hear the tragic
news, and especially since he would not have any of his family
present. He took it pretty hard, but he managed to get a flight
home the next morning.
Later that afternoon he pulled out an envelope full of money. It
was almost $500. He explained to me that the players took time out
to collect money for him to travel. It just about brought me to
tears to hear what thoughtful people they were.
In a time where the team was fighting to keep their hopes alive
for the tournament, all they wanted to do was to help my brother
shows the tremendous strength of character this team has.
I am thrilled to know that my brother got to hang out
with such a great group of guys, but more than that, a family. I
was glad to find that the team won the final two games and got
into the tournament.
Good luck in Oklahoma and go Bruins.
