UC Davis student nominated to regents

Adam Rosenthal, a second-year law student at UC Davis, and a
UCLA alumnus was nominated to be the student representative to the
University of California Board of Regents for 2005-2006.

The regents are expected to confirm Rosenthal at their meeting
in September.

After being confirmed, Rosenthal will serve for a year as the
non-voting student regent designate. In 2005 he will replace Jodi
Anderson, who starts her term as next year’s student regent
July 1.

Rosenthal graduated from UCLA in 2001 with a history major and a
Jewish studies minor. He spent two years after graduation working
for Teach for America at a high school in Oakland before beginning
law school.

Rosenthal, who has two California teaching credentials, said he
wants to increase the number of K-12 teachers the UC trains and to
expand opportunities for public service at the university,
according to a press release from the UC Office of the
President.
