UCLA rowing team takes 7th overall at Pac-10
Championships
In the Pac-10 Rowing Championships held at
Lake Natomas, the UCLA rowing team qualified for all the Grand
Finals, but got seventh overall. In both the Varsity Eight and the
Second Varsity Eight, UCLA came in sixth with times of 7:08.10 and
7:17.70, respectively. In the Novice Eight Grand Final, the Bruins
beat out USC for fifth place in 6:56.10. Cal took home the title
with its first conference win in school history, edging out
Washington. UCLA had another competition Saturday in the Pacific
Coast Rowing Championships, also held in Natomas. There, UCLA
finished fifth in the Novice Four Grand Final behind Cal
“˜B’ boat, Cal “˜A,’ San Diego State and
Sacramento State. The Bruins finished in 8:23.6 to beat out St.
Mary’s.

MEN’S ROWING: The UCLA men’s club
rowing team came in fifth overall at the Pac-10 Championships, also
held at Lake Natomas. Washington captured the title, narrowly
beating out Cal.

WOODEN HONORED: Today, legendary UCLA
basketball coach John Wooden will be presented with the L.A. Sports
and Entertainment Commission during its 5th Annual Celebrity Golf
and Tennis Classic at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific
Palisades. He will receive the LASEC Sports & Entertainment
Ambassador Award of Excellence to honor his many accomplishments in
sports and the community.
