and not such a nice guy. The new play of political intrigue tracks
a fictional governor’s rise to White House glory, only to be
brought down by the woman who comes between him and his chief

Puppet Slam 2004

May 15, 8 p.m. One of the largest, independent organizations of
puppet enthusiasts in the United States, the Los Angeles Guild of
Puppetry (yes, that’s right ““ guild of puppetry)
presents an evening of short, contemporary puppet plays for adult
audiences. Apparently puppet slams are all the rage on the East
Coast. Hosted by Victor Yerrid and Drew Massey of Comedy
Central’s wildly hilarious puppet show “Crank
Yankers,” this unique event will include performances by such
artists as Donna Kimball, Paul McGinnis, Christine Papalexis, Robin
Simms and Paul Zaloom. Puppet lovers rejoice. Tickets are $7. Call

“The Gay Mafia: Out of
Wedlock”

May 15 through June 26 Improv and sketch comedy group The Gay Mafia
jump all over the same-sex marriage controversy. Created by Mike
Player in 2001 to provide the gay community with some laughs, The
Gay Mafia offers no shortage of outrageous characters and

designer/artist Simon Johnston, who will be dispensing some

May 17, 6:30 p.m. The Principal of Inside/Outside in Amsterdam,
Blaisse will be holding the Harvey S. Perloff Chair for spring

connecting inside and outside, weaving together architecture and
landscape. Hear what he has to say about this ying and yang dynamic
