Stroke Center receives research grant

The UCLA Stroke Center has received a $5 million grant from the
National Institutes of Health for research in therapies and
treatments of stroke.

The money will be used for programs focusing on magnetic
resonance imaging for accurate diagnosis of stroke patients and
less invasive surgery for treatment.

The number of individuals expected to suffer from a stroke will
double in the next 50 years.

The UCLA Stroke Center is one of four centers nationwide
participating in the NIH program.
