Tattoos are out. Scars are in. And the best part is they are not
only free, but mom and dad can’t get mad. Before Los Angeles
revs up its summer oven, there’s no better place to collect
your red badge of courage than the Kenter trails, our very own
mountain biker’s amusement park.

Only a few minutes’ drive from campus, the trails head up
into the hills behind Brentwood, providing high-speed downhill
riding littered with jumps and stomach-tossing turns. An added
bonus is a view stretching from Santa Monica to downtown on clear
days.

While catching your breath, check out the multi-million dollar
homes below, and see if you can recognize any from
“Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” From campus, head
west on Sunset Boulevard until Kenter Avenue, make a right and
continue up the hill a few miles until it ends at a gate, and park
there. The trails begin on the other side of the gate. But wear a
helmet and take it easy; time doesn’t heal all wounds.

Tracer, dB Magazine senior staff.
