SHOULD Win: Peter Jackson, “The Lord of the Rings:
The Return of the King”

The word “duh” comes to mind in this category. Can
you really not give the Academy Award to a man whose past 3 films
have grossed about a bazillion dollars at the box office, who has
received multiple nominations in the past, and who made an epic
trilogy that has changed the way audiences look at movies?
Didn’t think so.

It’s been assumed the Academy has taken its time to award
Peter Jackson the Oscar because it was waiting for his final
installment. Jackson is being recognized more for the trilogy as a
whole than just “The Return of the King.”

After captivating audiences for the past three years with his
adaptation of Tolkien’s epic journey through Middle Earth,
Jackson will finally get his dues for his masterful work on The
Lord of the Rings trilogy.

And the hobbits rejoice “¦
