How do you feel about the proposed plan to charge students for
all units above 198? Kip Hermann Fourth-year,
psychobiology
“I’m definitely not going to be
graduating with 198 units … so it doesn’t affect me at all.
But if students are supposed to learn as much as they can, they
shouldn’t be charged extra ““ it takes away from the
whole process of learning.” Sarah Churng Fourth-year,
linguistics and computer science
“There are three
groups of people it could apply to: those who have multiple degrees
who would obviously go over, those with the risk of going over
because they have a full degree that pushes 200, and those who
wouldn’t go over. “¦ There are a lot of people who want
to do more. “¦ We’re already given so much financial
stress; (we don’t need more).” Lauren Severs
Third-year, marine biology
“It’s unfair for
people with classes where the unit count has gone up in the past
years because it might discourage them from taking certain
majors.” Shawn van Valkenburgh First-year,
undeclared
“I think (Gov. Arnold) Schwarzenegger
would probably know as what is best as governor. I don’t
really know what the financial situation is, but I’d have to
trust him.” Compiled by Derek Lazzaro/Daily Bruin Senior
