Last Year: Hating Clear Channel; This Year: Loving Clear Channel

Spewing vitriol in the general direction of media behemoth Clear
Channel has been a popular sport among hipsters for a while now,
and for good reason. They are, after all, one of the main reasons
why concert ticket prices are so high and why most radio stations
play terrible music.
But with the introduction of Indie 103.1 to Los Angeles airwaves
in the last couple weeks, we have to admit we may be Clear Channel
converts. Granted, the station name couldn’t be more lame,
but the massive corporation behind it saw a niche in our media
market that desperately needed to be filled, and for the first time
Angelinos actually have a decent commercial radio station to turn
to in desperate times. Clear Channel may be a giant conspiracy, but
this year it looks like they’re conspiring for instead of
against us.
