“Vertigo”
Egyptian Theatre
Jan. 17, 5:30 p.m.
Not only will the Egyptian Theatre screen a 70 mm print of Alfred
Hitchcock’s classic, but femme fatale Kim Novak herself will
be available in person for a Q&A discussion following the show.
Ask her about playing two roles in the film, something James
Stewart never did. Tickets are $12 for students. Log on to
www.egyptiantheatre.com for more information.

“Matchstick Men”
Ackerman Grand Ballroom
Jan. 15, 7 and 9:30 p.m.
What better way to kick off 2004 than with possibly the single most
average movie of 2003? At once boring and schmaltzy, it’s
also mildly entertaining at times, making it your typical Hollywood
fare. It could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse
too, which puts it solidly in the ranks of watchable movies.
Tickets are $2 at the door. Try www.campusevents.ucla.edu for
details.

“The Princess Bride”
Landmark Nuart Theater
Jan. 17, 12 a.m.
Every Friday night at midnight, the Nuart Theater in Santa Monica
hosts a special, nostalgia-driven screening, and this week’s
gets us right in the gut. Miss out on a chance to see it on the big
screen? Inconceivable! Check out www.landmarktheaters.com for more
information.
