A Mother’s Journey: Photographs from Orissa,
India, by Tara Colburn

Fowler Museum
Dec. 7 to Feb. 29

Colburn set out on a journey to India to find her son, who had
joined the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, but
came back with a wealth of amazing photographs from rarely viewed
parts of rural India. Though the Los Angeles photographer passed
away earlier this year, her work lives on. Free admission for
students.

“Embedded”
The Actors’ Gang Theater
Extended through Feb. 1

Written and directed by activist/actor Tim Robbins, the new play
from the Actors’ Gang is set during a barely fictional
version of the war in Iraq, complete with war-mongering White House
staffers, complicit journalists and homesick troops. Perhaps not
the most uplifting of holiday theater offerings, but certainly one
of the more timely. Tickets are $25, $15 for students. For more
information, call (323) 465-0566, Ext. 15, or visit
www.theactorsgang.com.
