voted to table the appointment of the new elections board chair
because the candidate did not attend the meeting.

USAC supports organized labor The Undergraduate
Students Association Council passed the Resolution in Support of
Organized Labor with a 10-0-0 vote at Tuesday night’s general
meeting. With the passage of the resolution, USAC showed their
support of the various strikes taking place across Southern
California, including the United Food and Commercial Workers Union
strikes against major supermarket chains. The resolution also
recognizes and supports the Assi Supermarket strike in Korea town.
Internal Vice President Allende Palma/Saracho said students also
need to recognize UCLA workers.

Council wants campus eatery removed The
Resolution Against Taco Bell on the UCLA campus was passed in an
11-0-0 vote. The resolution calls for the support of USAC to
boycott Taco Bell and to urge the Associated Students of UCLA not
to renew their contract with Taco Bell. Taco Bell purchases
tomatoes from a Florida packing company that labor rights activists
do not believe provides their tomato pickers with a living wage.
Financial Supports Commissioner Erica Husse raised concern over
replacing Taco Bell with a similarly priced alternative.
