Nandi Pryce and Jill Ellis received Pac-10 women’s soccer
accolades Thursday, as the conference chose Pryce as the Pac-10
co-player of the year and Ellis as the coach of the year. Pryce
anchors a UCLA defense that ranks 25th nationally in goals against
average (0.76). This is Ellis’ first Pac-10 Coach of the Year
honor. Iris Mora, Sarah-Gayle Swanson and senior midfielder Whitney
Jones were first team All Pac-10 honorees. Sophomore midfielder
Jill Oakes made the conference’s second team.
FOOTBALL: UCLA backup quarterback John Sciarra
pleaded guilty Monday to disturbing the peace, according to the Los
Angeles Daily News. The third-stringer was charged in August for
public intoxication and providing police with a false name. After
pleading down the charges to a misdemeanor, Sciarra will be placed
on three years of probation. He also must complete 10 days of
community service, attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and pay
$100 in restitution. He has the possibility of serving only a year
of probation if he meets the requirements. “¢bull; Saturday’s
