Sitting out his sophomore season due to injury had to be
frustrating for Yoo Kim after displaying so much pole-vaulting
potential as a freshman.

Well, his sophomore year has been worth the wait.

Kim has shattered his own personal record three times this
season, the last of which came when he cleared the bar at
18-feet-2.5 inches at the Pac-10 Championships, establishing a new
Korean record.

He is among the favorites to win the NCAA pole vaulting
championship, and will likely represent South Korea in the Olympics
in 2004.
