The freshman pitcher had the inglorious responsibility of being
the UCLA softball team’s second pitcher in a sport that
usually requires only one.

Still, when given playing time, she pitched brilliantly, going
undefeated with a 14-0 record and an ERA of 0.83, the third lowest
mark in the Pac-10.

For most of the season, she hung out in the shadow of Keira
Goerl, the UCLA ace who pitched a no-hitter in the NCAA
Championship game.

But Turner had her moments of excellence.

She pitched a no-hitter against No. 20 Arizona State in the
first game of a doubleheader the last day of the regular
season.

In the nightcap, Turner threw another shutout.

Turner also combined with Goerl to throw a perfect game against
Colgate in the NCAA Regionals.
