Rowing meet against USC postponed The rowing
meet between UCLA and No. 7 USC originally scheduled for Saturday,
May 3, was postponed due to inclement weather. The meet was
rescheduled for next Saturday, May 10. Heading into the meet, the
Bruin novice eight boat looked to continue its undefeated season in
dual match-ups. The varsity eight boat, which lost its first
dual-meet last week to the University of Minnesota, will attempt to
upset the highly ranked Trojans. The meet marks the second time the
two teams will have met since the UCLA team regained its varsity
sport designation last year. USC won last year, winning every race
except for the novice eight. The dual matchup marks UCLA’s
final regular season meet before heading to the Pac-10 and Pacific
region championships on May 17 and 18.

Krystle Johnson transfers to Alabama The UCLA
women’s basketball team will lose sophomore center Krystle
Johnson, who will transfer to Alabama. Johnson never started for
UCLA, but played in 21 games last season, averaging 1.6 points and
1.1 rebounds. She averaged six minutes per game. “We’re
very excited about Krystle,” Alabama coach Rick Moody told
the Tuscaloosa News. “It will be interesting to see how she
adjusts to the SEC, which has a reputation for physical play,
coming from the Pac-10, which does not.” The 6-foot-4-inch
Johnson weighs more than 250 pounds and, as a freshman, scored a
career-high 15 points against Washington. She will sit out a season
at Alabama under the NCAA transfer rule and will have to two years
