Baseball to take on Fullerton again

The UCLA baseball team will host No. 1 Cal State Fullerton
tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium at 6 p.m.

The Bruins (19-24, 5-7 Pac-10) have lost to the Titans (34-8,
8-1 Big West) twice already this season, including a 7-1 loss on
March 2, and a 13-2 loss on April 15. Both games were at
Fullerton.

Bryan Beck will start for UCLA. He has only started twice this
season but has a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 3.95.

CSU Fullerton will start Darric Merrell (3-0, 4.19) in what will
be his fifth start of the season.

The Bruins are coming off of a weekend where they won two out of
three games against No. 4 Arizona State and have had success
against ranked teams. UCLA is 6-7 against top-25 teams this season
but 0-8 in midweek games.

Safety Raymo switches to wide receiver

Yesterday, UCLA junior safety Jibril Raymo switched to wide
receiver and hopes to redshirt this coming year.

“I’ve thought about this for a long time, and
I’ve called coach Dorrell and told him I really want to do
this. It’s going to be a long process, but I have to keep my
eye on the prize because I know what the payoff can be.”

Currently, Raymo shares No. 23 with freshman wide receiver
Antwuan Smith.

“I don’t like that all,” Smith said.

Raymo will likely return to his high school No. 3, which was
last held by former-UCLA All-American and current-Philadelphia
Eagle Freddie Mitchell.

“I’d like to bring it back and represent that
number,” Raymo said.

Dorrell said Raymo looked decent at the position for his first
day. He and the staff will make a decision at the end of the week
whether or not to keep Raymo there.

“I’m all for it,” Moore. “He’s
big, fast and can catch.”
