The No. 3 UCLA men’s tennis team (14-1, 1-0 Pac-10) is off
this week studying for finals, but it returns to action Sunday with
the fourth annual Joel Hein Memorial Tennis Day.

This non-competitive event involves alumni and various team
supporters. UCLA began the tradition of honoring longtime Bruin
supporter Joel Hein in 2000.

The week of spring break, the Bruins will head to the desert to
face Arizona (5-6) on March 28 and No. 47 Arizona State (5-6) on
March 29. These matches will count toward the Pac-10
standings.

The Bruins turned in dominating performances against the Arizona
schools when they visited Westwood earlier in the season, defeating
Arizona State 6-1 and Arizona 7-0. Arizona is coming off
consecutive 6-1 losses to No. 6 Stanford and No. 5 California while
Arizona State is riding high after a 4-3 upset victory over
then-No. 25 Wake Forest.

In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association individual
rankings, every Bruin starter is represented. Junior Tobias
Clemens is No. 6, sophomore Chris Lam is No. 24, junior Marcin
Matkowski is No. 32, senior co-captain Erfan Djahangiri is No. 33,
senior Lassi Ketola is No. 87 and senior co-captain Rodrigo Grilli
is No. 98.

In doubles, the team of Matkowski and Grilli is No. 12.
