How often do you go to Ackerman Union? What can be done to make
it more appealing to students? Rajima Danish
Third-year, physiological science
“Ackerman is in the middle of everything, so I go there
more than once a day between classes to kill time. Prices seem to
be really unreasonable, and they need a wider range of everyday
things in the marketplace, especially for students still living on
campus because it may be their only way to buy items
conveniently.” Jonathan Hernandez
Third-year, civil engineering
“I think there could be a lot done to Ackerman that would
make me want to spend more time there. There could be more
recreational facilities other than the arcade, like the bowling
alley that used to be there. There could also be another computer
lab, since the one in the library is always full, and having one in
the union would be a lot more convenient. A bigger post office
would also be good since the line is always really long.”
Monique Evans
Third-year, mathematics
“I go to Ackerman almost everyday and I like it the way it
is now. The only thing that I could think of changing is the prices
in the marketplace. They could go down a little bit because it is
really expensive especially when it is heavily used by
students.” Kelly Persons
Second-year, biology
“I probably go to Ackerman once a month because I just
don’t have a reason to go. I pretty much have everything I
need, and there are other less expensive places besides the union
to get everyday items.” James Sharp
Fourth-year, mechanical engineering
“I really only go to Ackerman to get food. If there was
more entertainment, I would go more often. There are a lot of
stores, but nothing besides the arcade is entertaining for
students. Also, the post office could be improved and made larger
to accommodate all the students that use it.” Julius

First-year, undeclared
“I spend a great deal (of time) in Ackerman for shopping
and studying. I think there could be more tables for studying
because it gets really crowded. In terms of the stores, I can
generally find everything I need, even if prices are a little high.
There could also be more ATMs because lines get really
long.”
