Business owners have pushed for an increase in police patrol in
Westwood. What do you think of this? Evish Kamrava
Fifth-year, biochemistry
“I don’t think there is too much crime in Westwood
right now and more police patrol would only cause more
agitation to students. Westwood isn’t what it used to be anyway,
and with more police presence, they’re just pushing out what
little customers are left. I don’t feel unsafe at all in
Westwood.” Mo Kahaledy
Fifth-year, biochemistry
“I’m not really against having more police in
Westwood. If it drives out the high school kids that come to the
Village, then I am for having more patrol. What little burgularies
happen in Westwood could be prevented as well. As long as
things don’t get out of control.” Kristin
Grossheider
Second-year, MIMG
“Having more police wouldn’t really make a
difference to me. Whenever I see police walking around right
now it makes me feel safer, but I don’t see any big threats
in Westwood. I think there are more beneficial ways to spend
money.” Roxanne Moin
Fourth-year, political science
“It’s a sad thing if Westwood needs more patrol,
because I think it’s a very safe neighborhood for students,
especially in comparison to other surrounding areas of Los
Angeles." Jennifer Salem
Fourth-year, political science
“I don’t feel unsafe in Westwood. I just came back
from Europe and I think people are definitely over-paranoid here. I
don’t think the homeless want to hurt anyone, they’re
just looking for money.” Cynthia Loo
Fourth-year, business economics
“I don’t think it would hurt to have more poilcemen
on patrol. It would definitely make it safer for girls, or people
in general walking around alone in Westwood at night.”
