Music
“¢bull; The UCLA Philharmonia performs tonight with conductor
Jon Robertson and guest viola soloist Paul Colletti. Colletti, new
to the faculty this year, will perform William Walton’s
“Viola Concerto.” The program will also include Hanne
Helledie Moller’s “From the City to the
Sanctuary” and Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D
Major, Op. 73.” The performance, at 8 p.m. in Schoenberg
Hall, is $7 general admission, $3 for students and seniors.
“¢bull; Sixties icon Marianne Faithfull, best known for her
relationship with Mick Jagger and as the muse behind the song
“Carrie Anne” comes to Royce Hall this Sunday to
perform songs from her first album in three years,
“Kissin’ Time,” which features collaborations
with Beck, Blur and Billy Corgan. Tickets are $15 for students.
Arts
“¢bull; The Department of Architecture and Urban Design is
presenting an exhibit, “Christine Tarkowski: Fortifications
and Landscapes.” This Chicago-based artist showcases her
installation exploring space and structure now on display in the
gallery in Perloff Hall through Dec. 6.
“¢bull; “Making,” a collaborative exhibit between
L.A. art schools, including UCLA’s School of Arts and
Architecture, explores the concept of making art. The exhibit is
free at the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts West.
Theater
“¢bull; “Pearl,” a contemporary adaptation of
“Snow White” with music and dance, continues at the
Geffen Playhouse directed by and starring Debbie Allen. No
performances Thanksgiving day. Student rush tickets available one
hour prior to performance for $10.
Film
“¢bull; The Film and Television Archive present “Sisters
in Resistance,” about four French women fighting against Nazi
Occupation, and “Unfinished Symphony” about growing
political dissent set against the backdrop of a protest rally in
Boston Common in 1971. Films screen tonight at 7:30 p.m. in James
Bridges Theater.
“¢bull; The Film & Television Archive is screening
“Railroad of Hope” and “Devils on the
Doorstep,” as part of the New Chinese Cinema Series. The
movies will show at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. in the James Bridges
Theater on Saturday, Nov. 30.
