UCLA senior Jean-Julien Rojer won the International Tennis
Federation Futures Tournament in Barbados on Saturday.

In the singles final, Rojer beat Javier Taborga, who played as a
senior for Notre Dame last year, 6-2, 6-1.

In the doubles final, he and Ryan Russell (Jamaica) beat Taborga
and Mirko Pehar (U.S.A.) 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

“It has been my best tournament so far,” Rojer told
the Associated Press. “I started two months ago, and this
week, I got the same number of points I got from five tournaments,
so it has been a good week.”

As a Bruin last year, Rojer had a 23-13 singles record and 34-7
doubles record.

“He’s been playing very well lately, and I’m
glad to see it,” UCLA men’s tennis head coach Billy
Martin said. “Last year was not a good indication of his
ability. He’s back on track. I’m happy for
him.”

Rojer won $1,980 at the tournament, but can still claim amateur
status because his expenses were more than his earnings. Rojer will
play for UCLA when the regular season starts on Jan. 15 against UC
Irvine.
