By Daily Bruin Staff

Sept. 21, 2002 9:00 p.m.

What does ASUCLA stand for? What does it do? Shaun Ruvolo

Fourth-year, Business economics

“I guess it’s the elected representatives of the
school. They run the students’ store and the
restaurants.” Jules Guerra

Third-year, Economics

“It’s the student union thing. They run Ackerman and
the businesses. I don’t know what it stands for. I thought I
knew.” Ani Khatchdourian

Fourth-year, English

“Associated something. I don’t know what it is.
I’ve seen signs, but I haven’t read anything about it
and I don’t know what they do.” Stephanie Gomez

First-year, Psychology

“I think they are the little people who put on
orientation.” Kyle Yip

Fifth-year, Psychobiology

“I’m not exactly sure what they do, but I know they
have a lot to do with finances and stuff. I know that the profit
from restaurants helps reduce book costs for students.”
Jessica Matthew

Fifth-year, Psychobiology

“It’s Associated Students for UCLA. They help with
student affairs. I’m honestly not really sure, which is kind
of sad, but I’ve seen the name around before.” Sajid
Mohamedy

Second-year, Business economics

“It’s the human resources organization right here at
Kerckhoff and they help students find jobs and stuff like
that.” Raymond Lo

Third-year, Neuroscience

“It’s the Associated Students of UCLA. What they do
is run most of the businesses that are on UCLA itself. They give
jobs to students in the stores and do a lot of the things that go
on in the background.” Speaks out compiled by David
