Looking for a quiet, romantic spot to take your special someone?
La Frite offers not just a taste of France, but the ambiance and
atmosphere of Parisian amour.

One among a small chain scattered throughout Los Angeles, the
small restaurant is nestled into Ventura Boulevard adorned with
tiny lights in the windows, watercolor art, and low, romantic
lighting. The atmosphere is, in a word, cute ““ overly
pretentious, but cute all the same. This description applies to the
minute ten ounce glass bottle of Sprite, the one inch long,
extremely thin fries, and the fact that each separate beverage
requires a different glass.

Patrons will know the food is prepared with extreme care as a
great deal of time lapses between the appetizer, entree, and
dessert. This makes the dining experience an ideal time to
socialize and enjoy everything, which is worth the wait if you
enjoy French cuisine. If you are a fan of cheese, I highly
recommend tasting the baked brie, which comes breaded, extremely
soft in the center, and garnished with homemade marinara made of
fresh garlic and tomatoes to begin your meal.

For those wanting to try something not usual to American cuisine
La Frite offers escargot, several veal entrees and duck smothered
in orange sauce. The duck is prepared completely tender with a
sweet glaze that completely melts in your mouth and is accompanied
by steamed vegetables with garlic and rice pilaf.

Of course, the part of the meal most patrons will remember is
the dessert. La Frite offers a large array of French pastries,
chocolate mousse cake, creme brulee, and homemade vanilla ice
cream. To finish my meal, after much indecisiveness because
everything appeared so good, I decided to try the profiterol, which
consisted of a cream puff filled with the homemade ice cream and a
layer of warm fudge sauce beneath it. Anyone with a sweet tooth
will agree this item a wonderful way to complete their dining
experience.

Next time you are looking for a place to impress your date, try
La Frite. As the French say, “c’est si bon”.

La Frite is located at 22616 Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills
and prices range from $15-25. Call for hours and reservations:
