"Tender is the Night"

Though F. Scott Fitzgerald is best known for his tightly crafted
Jazz Age masterwork “The Great Gatsby,” his later, less
critically lauded novel “Tender is the Night,” is his
true masterpiece.

Trading in “Gatsby’s” precision for a more
sprawling romantic style, Fitzgerald’s “Tender”
hero, Dick Diver, creates one of the most intriguing figures in
20th century literature. The non-linear narrative probes deeper
into the human psyche and Fitzgerald’s own life experiences
than any of his other works. With its romantic portrayal of summer,
these lazy days couldn’t be better for picking up this
literary classic.
