about the fragile nature of memory and identity. But even before
those, Nolan created his first film, “Following.”

“Following” is about Bill’s obsession with
following strangers until Cobb, a thief, catches him and turns him
into his protégé. It is tense, shocking, and about as
low-budget indie as you can get. Besides that, it helped define the
current neo-noir film movement.
