Financial Supports Com.: LaFlamme turns his critical eye to real issues within financial supports

By Daily Bruin Staff

  Andrew LaFlamme

From the BruinGo! program to student meal plans, nothing escapes
the critical mind of Andrew LaFlamme. Combined with his fervent
attitude toward inducing real change, this makes him the ideal
candidate for financial supports commissioner.

LaFlamme, although not yet in office, has already started
contacting state representatives to help address issues like the
housing crunch inflicted by Tidal Wave II, the influx of about
4,000 more students to UCLA in the next 10 years. He would like to
assemble a booklet with the rates and services of every apartment
complex in Westwood to help students with apartment hunting and
pressure landlords to maintain steady, competitive prices. And
LaFlamme is strongly in favor of BruinGo! Unlike many prospective
representatives, however, he is ardent about saving the
program.

LaFlamme also demonstrates a highly critical attitude toward the
little ways the school has squeezed extra dollars out of its
students. LaFlamme’s concrete issues and tangible solutions
demand the full endorsement of the Daily Bruin.
