FILM The new CGI film “Ice Age”
will open in theaters this Friday in wide release. The movie
features the voice talents of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Dennis
Leary. The new video game-based film “Resident Evil,”
starring Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez and Eric Mabius, opens
this Friday as well. “Resident Evil” is rated R for
strong sci-fi/horror violence, language and brief sexuality/nudity.
The new Robert DeNiro/Eddie Murphy film, “Showtime,”
opens this Friday as well. It is rated PG-13 and is a spoof on
buddy-cop movies in which two unlikely police officers are forced
to be partners in a reality-based TV show. On Saturday, the UCLA
Film and Television Archive will be presenting “La
Libertad,” followed by “Urbania” in continuation
of their Contemporary Latin America Film series. The first film
will be showing at 7:30 p.m. at the James Bridges Theater. General

2,” sequel to the Wesley Snipes vampire thriller
“Blade.” Also opening is the rerelease of
“E.T.” as “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial: the 20th
Anniversary,” and “Sorority Boys,” which features
three fraternity members who get kicked out of their fraternity and
dress like women to join a sorority. LITERATURE
Helen Fielding, author of “Bridget Jones’s
Diary,” is coming to Book Soup in West Hollywood tonight at 8
p.m. for the rerelease of her first novel, “Cause

Davis, who used to write for the “Late Show with David
Letterman,” will read from her new book “Girls’
Poker Night” this Sunday at the Tempest Supper Club in Los

THEATER The Acme Players presents its newest
comedy production, “ACME Doodle Dandy” this Saturday at
8 p.m. for an indefinite run at ACME Comedy Theatre in Hollywood.

ART Two Girls and a Dog Gallery in Venice is
hosting an event for artist Kristin Klosterman and her work
exploring the hidden aspects of women. The exhibition opens tonight

MUSIC The UCLA Classical Guitarists will be
performing tonight at 8 p.m. in the organ studio of the Schoenberg
Music Building. They will be performing material by composers such
as Vivaldi and Satie, in addition to some original works. Admission
is free. The UCLA Chorale is holding its winter concert Saturday at
Schoenberg Music Hall. The performances will be at 7 and 9 p.m.
Tickets are $7, $3 for students and seniors. The Mother Hips are
