MIKE CHIEN Mike Saffer plays in his last
game as a Bruin this Saturday.
Arizona Boys Wide receiver Brian Poli-Dixon and
offensive tackle Mike Saffer both have a little more at stake in
Saturday’s game. Each hails from Arizona, and while they are
from Tucson rather than Tempe, they tend to turn it up a bit
against schools from their home state. “I always like playing
Arizona schools,” Saffer said. “Since this is the only
Arizona school on our schedule this year, I’m definitely
looking forward to it.”
Tab’s in Town Wide receiver Tab Perry
rejoined the team at practice this week, complete with healthy ribs
and a toothy grin. “It feels great to be back out
here,” Perry said on Tuesday. “I feel ready to
play.” Perry is currently listed as third on the depth chart.
He said his ribs are no longer sore and his lung has healed,
although he does feel winded after long runs. “That’s
just because I haven’t practiced in about a month,”
Perry said.
Goodbye Rose Bowl For 23 seniors, Saturday
marks the final time they will set foot in the Rose Bowl wearing
the powder blue home colors. The defense starts six seniors
including linemen Kenyon Coleman and Ken Kocher, linebackers Ryan
Nece and Robert Thomas and defensive backs Marques Anderson and
Jason Stephens. Starting seniors on offense include quarterback
Scott McEwan, fullback Ed Ieremia-Stansbury, tight end Brian
Fletcher, center Troy Danoff and wide receiver Poli-Dixon. “I
don’t think it’s hit us yet,” Nece said of
playing their final home game. “I’m sure once
it’s over we’ll look back and say, “˜That’s
it?'”
