Former Bruins are Supersonic
What do Seattle and Kansas City have in common?
The answer: Earl Watson and JaRon Rush.
The Kansas City natives, and former Bruin hoopsters both signed
contracts with the Seattle SuperSonics earlier this week.
Watson, the No. 40 overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft, signed a
one-year, partially-guaranteed contract for $332,817.
According to Bob Myers, a representative for Arn Tellem,
Watson’s agent, Watson will receive a portion of the contract
on Jan. 10 whether he makes the team or not.
Rush was one of seven other players to sign a one-year,
non-guaranteed contract for an undisclosed amount.
Rush’s contract would become guaranteed if he should make
the team, but according to the Seattle Times, of the 17 players at
training camp, only 12 or 13 are likely to be on the final
roster.
Watson’s potential playing time is still up in the air,
pending the signing of free agent guard Shammond Williams. If
Williams does not re-sign, Watson will be the primary backup to
Gary Payton.
