Daily Bruin Senior Staff The Emmy award telecast, previously
postponed, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7. The event was
to air on CBS Sept. 16. "The show will go on, but the show won’t be
the same," said a statement on the Emmy Web site. Madonna’s Sept.
11 show at Staples Center, canceled after the terrorist attacks in
New York City and Washington, D.C., has been rescheduled for
Saturday night, at the same venue. The Staples Center Web site
urges ticket holders to arrive an hour early since there will be
increased security measures in place. Pop band Blink-182 have also
postponed two of their concerts, according to their Web site. The
band will now perform at the Arrowhead Pond on Sunday, September
16th and at the Long Beach Arena on Wednesday, September 19th. Cake
have also postponed their Los Angeles show. The band will now
perform on Oct. 24 at the Mayan Theatre. The Latin Grammy telecast,
also originally scheduled for Sept. 11, is still in limbo. Although
a statement released Tuesday morning said it would be canceled,
another released Thursday implied it might be rescheduled.
"Regardless of our decision to cancel or reschedule the event and
telecast, rest assured that in the event the show is canceled we
will work with Deloitte & Touche to ensure that all the winners
still will be recognized and given the awards they have earned,"
said Michael Greene, the president and CEO of the Recording Academy
and Latin Recording Academy in a statement.
