California victims eligible for compensation

Sept. 11, 2001 9:00 p.m.

Gov. Gray Davis announced today that financial help of up to
$70,000 is available for the families of those killed or injured
during Tuesday’s terrorist attacks through the California
Victim Compensation Program. California victims and their families
may call (800) 777-9229 or (800) 735-2929 for information and
applications.

Starting Thursday, both toll-free phone lines will operate from
7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
