Beginning this fall, the university is requiring that all
students have medical insurance.
To comply with a University of California mandate, UCLA
automatically enrolls students in its Student Health Insurance
Plan, which will cost an annual $534 for undergraduate students and
$720 for graduates.
Students who already have insurance that meets the
University’s minimum requirement can waive SHIP online at
www.studenthealth.ucla.edu.
The period to waive SHIP runs Sept. 1 to 20 for fall quarter.
Linda Amicarelli, insurance coordinator at UCLA’s Arthur
Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center, said the changes only
affect domestic undergraduate students, since graduate students
already fall under the requirement.
