Bruins to face Navy in Final Four

The UCLA men’s water polo team (21-3), winner of the
Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament, received an
automatic berth to the Final Four and were named the No. 1 seed.
They will take on No. 4 seed Navy, the winner of the Eastern
Conference, Saturday at 1 p.m. The tournament will take place at
Pepperdine University in Malibu.

USC (20-6) received the at-large bid to the men’s water
polo Final Four this weekend and will be the No. 2 seed. Although
the Trojans were upset by Pepperdine in the first round of the
tournament, they won their final two games of the tournament to
claim fifth place and received a berth because of their strong
regular season record. Another deciding factor was USC’s 3-0
record against UC Irvine, the No. 1 seed in the weekend’s
MPSF tournament. The Anteaters were upset by the Cal Bears in the
semifinals of the tournament and finished fourth.

Saturday at 2:30 p.m., USC will play No. 3 seed UC San Diego,
the winner of the Western Water Polo Association.

The Trojans defeated UC San Diego 7-5 in the only meeting
between the two teams this season on Sept. 24.

The losers of these games will play for third place on Sunday at
1 p.m., while the winners will play for the NCAA Championship at
2:30 p.m.
