UCLA Film and Television Archive The UCLA Film and Television
Archive will show the films "Genghis Blues" and "The Buena Vista
Social Club" on Nov. 21.
Documentary film series
The UCLA Film and Television Archive will sponsor a showing of
the films “The Buena Vista Social Club” and
“Genghis Blues” tonight at 7:30 and 10 p.m. at the
James Bridges Theater in Melnitz Hall.
The event is part of the 19th Annual Academy/Contemporary
Documentary Series. This series showcases both feature-length and
short documentaries drawn mostly from the 1999 Academy Awards.
Other films in the series include “Smoke and Mirrors: A
History of Denial” and “Growing Up Fast” on Nov.
28, and “The Art of Norton Simon” and “Keepers of
the Frame” on Dec. 5.

“˜Sex or Murder?’ at Young Salon
“Is this Sex or Murder?” a new play written by Nick
Flavin and directed by David Stromberg, appears at the Charles E.
Young Grand Salon in Kerckhoff Hall tonight at 7:30.
The show follows the adventures of Leo Hamrelish, a timid
door-to-door salesman, who finds himself at the mercy of a
beautiful but deadly young woman. She charms him into joining an
elaborate and sadistic murder plot.
In addition, a free jazz concert by the Kevin Kanner Guitar Trio
will precede both shows. Free food will also be available to

“˜Ennio’ at Geffen Playhouse
The School of Theater, Film, and Television presents
“Ennio” tonight at 7:30 and 10 p.m. at the Geffen
Playhouse.
The show stars Ennio Marchetto, the original quick-change artist
who takes the art of origami to new levels. His highly entertaining
performance creates amazing music, instantaneous transformations,
and delightful paper costumes that magically morph into interesting
parodies of popular cultural icons.

“˜L.A. Freewaves’ at UCLA Hammer
The UCLA Hammer Museum hosts “Watching/Being
Watched” as part of “L.A. Freewaves 7th Celebration of
Experimental Media Arts” today from 11:00 a.m to 7:00
p.m.
“L.A. Freewaves” is a festival of new media works by
artists from around the world. The artworks in the program provide
examples of the different ways that new technologies enable
ordinary people to use video cameras to document and comment on
daily life.
Works by various artists will screen continuously at the Hammer.
In addition, the UCLA Film and Television Archive presents
“Here+Here,” an evening of unusual road films as part

Munkafust at Westwood Plaza
Blues rock band Munkafust plays a free concert at Westwood Plaza
on Nov. 27 at noon.
The band includes lead singer-songwriter and guitarist Evan
Brau, bass player Jens Funke, guitarist Tony Gray and drummer Matt
Rimer.
Originally a trio, Munkafust was born in 1992 in Santa Barbara,
Calif. Now a four-man band, their music has grown into an
alternative, blues-based rock.

“˜Quills’ sneak at Ackerman
Campus Events presents a free sneak preview of
“Quills,” tonight at 8:00 in Ackerman Student
Union.
“Quills” is a work of historical fiction, detailing
the life and loves of the infamous Marquis de Sade, the original
sadist. It features an erotic love triangle, a compelling portrait
of three men obsessed with their own passions and morality, and an
entertaining exploration of freedom of expression.
The film stars Geoffrey Rush, Kate Winslet, Michael
Caine, Joaquin Phoenix, and Amelia Warner.
