CRIME WATCH Vehicles Stolen Grand Theft Petty
Theft 4 $8,907 $2,750

Petty theft

Two parking permits, six cellular phones, and several bags were
stolen this past period, amounting to an estimated total loss of
$2,452.

Someone stole sunglasses and a license plate frame from a Honda
Accord on Strathmore Avenue on Oct. 31. Another person removed CDs
and a CD case from a Volkswagen Beetle on Landfair Avenue on
Friday. The total loss was $575.

Police received a report last week of someone removing a screen
from an open window at Saxon Suites and stealing purses and keys
worth a total of $200.

Grand theft

Four vehicles were stolen last week from various parking lots
and garages around Westwood, including a green 1997 Toyota, silver
1987 Buick, 1967 blue Volkswagen Beetle and a 1999 blue Volkswagen
Beetle.

Four vehicles were broken into last week, including a $500
subwoofer and box from a silver 1999 Honda Civic on Monday. Then on
Oct. 31, someone broke into a 1986 silver Toyota 4runner on
Strathmore Avenue and stole a $1,200 stereo.

That same day, someone broke into a black 1992 Mazda MX3, and
stole a stereo, amplifier and CD changer. The total loss was
$800.

On Wednesday, someone stole a $500 stereo from a 1999 silver
Honda Civic.

Monday, someone broke into a silver 1999 Honda civic and stole a
loudspeaker and box priced at $500.

Someone stole a $4,000 operating light from the Center for
Health Sciences on Le Conte Avenue last week.

Miscellaneous

Police received five reports of noise disturbances last
week.

Police warned some people against participating in sexual
activity in the men’s rest room at the food court in Ackerman
Union on Sunday.

A man reportedly posted two harassment notes on the window of
another person’s Jeep on Friday.

A group of students, thought to be from USC, were dispersed by
police from the Bruin Bear on Friday.

A man threatened facilities employees at the Neuropsychiatric
Institute turnaround on Oct. 31. That same day, police broke up a
demonstration at Broxton and Weyburn Avenues
