A night in shining armor

Pup Rengki and Yodd Borib went
all out this year, receiving compliments for their decorative
costumes all night long.
Bert and Ernie, the Smurfs and Cleopatra were only a few of the
dramatic costumes seen on Tuesday night at the Halloween parade in
West Hollywood as people watched in awe and joined in the
festivities.
With costumes ranging from Playboy bunnies to beer bottles to
members of the band KISS, the event was a visual explosion of
color, creativity and craziness.
This year quite a few UCLA students hopped cabs down to the
packed streets of West Hollywood to join in the Halloween
festivities. People danced to the music of bands like the Disco
Infernos, grabbed food at street vendors and marveled at the wide
variety of costumes.
“I didn’t think men could fit into thongs so
easily!” exclaimed fourth-year Isabel Lim, astonished at the
sight of so many scantily clad men. Besides thongs, many also came
fully decked out in S&M gear and as drag queens and pimps.
“It was incredible!” said fourth-year Kannie Yu.
“Next year I need to dress up more!”
Crowd favorites could be judged by the screams of appreciation.
Two guys dressed as chickens and labeled “˜Mother
Pluckers’ were very popular, as was Elvis, Lenny Kravitz and
“the CD man,” who was dressed in a full length gown and
headpiece, made completely of CDs. Many people also dressed as
clowns, nurses, cats, devils, cowboys and even fishermen.
The atmosphere of the night was friendly and positive. Strangers
posed for pictures with one another, individuals danced with random
people standing around them, and, of course, there were many
compliments on costumes.
Many of the UCLA students who attended the event wholeheartedly
joined in the fun and perhaps next year even more will head down to
West Hollywood to celebrate Halloween and be amazed, scandalized
and delighted.
Known to the crowd as “The CD-Man,”
this incredible costume took two weeks to make and used several
hundred CDs.
These guys looked so realistic, they might have really been
KISS, and nobody would have known.
The Disco Infernos keeps the crowd lively,
excited and on their feet.
A unique version of spider-man, aiming to surprise and
scare.
