USAC CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS

By Daily Bruin Staff

May 8, 2000 9:00 p.m.

Cheryl Marie Lott, a fourth-year political science, African
American studies and Chicana/o studies student, is an experienced
programmer and an energetic leader. She will bring thoughtfulness
and hard work to the office of General Representative and to USAC
as a whole.

Lott is committed to promoting student-initiated outreach and
enacting a university hate-crimes policy to make sure this campus
is a safe place for all students. As a staff member in the General
Representative’s office and as a member of the Hate Crimes
Policy Committee, Lott has already demonstrated that she has the
ability and drive to organize successful programs and advocate for
changes on campus. She has tangible ideas for increasing campus
safety by working on a hate-crimes policy and promoting
self-defense workshops for women.

Lott clearly knows what she believes in and knows how to express
those beliefs. She hasn’t mindlessly absorbed Praxis’
ideologies; rather, she finds that the slate reflects her own
viewpoints.

And, unlike independent General Representative candidates Kendra
Striegler and Katrina Eiland, Lott clearly understands how student
government works.

A composed, independent thinker and dedicated hard worker, Lott
will be a positive and passionate voice on USAC and an energetic
representative for all undergraduate students.
