General Representative

Hi, my name is Elisa Sequeira and I am running with Praxis for
the office of general representative. We as Praxis believe in
“revisioning education through student power.” This
means that UCLA must be accessible to all students regardless of
one’s economic, racial, gender and sexual orientation status.
This also means that UCLA must be held accountable for not being
truly representative of all of our communities. And finally, this
means that through grassroots organizing, we, as students, can and
will make this university truly democratic and just.
Currently, I serve as the president of the Latin American
Students Association, am a member of Raza Women and have worked
extensively on USAC’s “Create Your Own
Millennium” campaign. Through these positions, I have
developed the skills and relationships that are needed to continue
fighting for a more diverse student body.
In order to combat the increasing loss of diversity, I plan to
put on quarterly outreach fairs that will raise awareness around
student-initiated outreach projects and other ways in which
students can directly get involved to improve campus diversity and
student empowerment.
I will also put on an “Educational Inequality
Drive,” a school supply project that will raise monetary
funds and provide school resources for K-12 schools that are
underfunded and in need of supplies. So, remember to vote for Elisa
Sequeira and the rest of the Praxis family as we continue to put
students first and ensure that the doors of our education remain
open for all.
