My name is Ryan Bulatao and I am running for the office of
general representative with Praxis. My involvement at UCLA includes
being a member of Samahang Pilipino, vice president of Pilipinos In
Engineering and co-coordinator of UCLA Fall Showcase. I was also
fortunate enough to serve on this year’s Undergraduate
Students Association Finance Committee, which has funded the most
student groups in USAC history.
One of my goals as general representative is to foster community
awareness. I will continue to provide avenues for students to come
together and form a more unified student body. In this manner, we
can understand our differences without losing sight of our
commonalties. I plan to hold interactive forums in which students
get the opportunity to meet fellow students from different
backgrounds in a safe and comfortable environment.
At the start of the academic year, as part of Welcome Week, I
will coordinate a collective welcome reception for all the student
organizations on campus to reach out to incoming freshmen and
first-year transfers, as well as other students who wish to get
involved.
Student involvement leads to another goal: student empowerment.
To encourage increased student involvement, I plan to organize a
biannual organization fair, which will give students the chance to
learn about the numerous places on campus where they can get
involved.
As a general representative, I look forward to working with
students and student organizations to achieve the Praxis goals of
increased student involvement and awareness on campus.
