President

PRESIDENT: Stacy Lee

Stacy Hae Lim Lee’s extensive experience in student government
at the campus, state and national levels as well as her student
activism make her the best candidate for USAC president. As the
current USAC external vice president, Lee has worked extensively
with the United States Students Association and University of
California Students Association on issues such as the 5 percent fee
rollback and domestic partnership.

Lee’s knowledge of student issues in addition to her
understanding of the UC administration will be tremendous assets to
her presidency.

Drawing from her two-year involvement in USAC, Lee’s plans for
the coming year are a result of lessons learned from the successes
and shortcomings she has witnessed firsthand. The concept of
reflection and action is the foundation of the slate that Lee is
running on, and is ostensibly the leader of. The Praxis slate
stresses the importance of facing the past and analyzing the
struggles and successes that have occurred in recent years. Lee is
not afraid of change; in fact, she encourages it.

Lee is dedicated to working with a wider group of people and
organizations during her term as president. She is adamant about
including everyone and is determined to work efficiently and
productively, even if other USAC members have differing views and
beliefs. At the same time, Lee stands firm in her own convictions.
She presents a plan that is well-organized and has clearly outlined
goals.

We are confident that her enthusiasm will garner the support she
will need in order to carry out a successful term as president.

However, while Lee is a good candidate, she lacks the natural
leadership ability necessary in dealing with aggressive students,
administration and state officials. She has a diplomatic way about
her that may be taken advantage of in the harsh world of university
and state-level politics. The state of the university Lee will
encounter as student body president will be a trying one.

Stacy Hae Lim Lee has our confidence, however, to serve the
needs and interests of the greater UCLA community.
