Heart device offers hope to patients waiting for transplants

RESEARCH: Technology allows organs of those on waitlist to
repair damage

Over 3,500 Americans are wait listed for heart transplants each
year and only two-thirds of these patients receive desperately
needed transplants. While the other third are forced to wait until
a suitable donor heart becomes available.

Many of these patients do not live to see a successful
transplant, according to Dr. Michelle Hamilton
