Monday, 8/11/97 W. Swimming Briefs BRIEFS:

Three of UCLA’s swimmers, Lindsay Etter, Keiko Price and Jill
Jenkins competed in the Phillips 66 U.S. National Swimming
Championships with impressive results. Etter placed seventh in the
200-meter breaststroke with the time of 2:32.57 and eighth in the
100-meter breaststroke with 1:11.12. Price placed seventh in the
50- meter freestyle with the time of 26.24 seconds. Four-time
Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken won that event. Price also
placed tenth in the consolation final of the 100-meter freestyle
with the time of 56.98 seconds. Jenkins finished 22nd in the
100-meter butterfly bonus final with 1:02.96. Etter and Price have
qualified for the upcoming World University Games in Sicily, Italy,
which will take place from Aug. 31 to Sept. 12. The women’s head
coach, Cyndi Gallagher, has been chosen as one of the swimming
coaches for the University Games.
