LETTERSGet sources straight

I am writing to you regarding the article, "Thoughts on Westwood
Village Business" in your July 21-27 issue.

Mr. Harwin reported the following statement, "An inside source
has it that Westwood Brewing Company would already be out of
business if it wasn’t owned by a major condiment company …"

This statement is not true.

Westwood Brewing Company is owned by a group of independent
investors, the largest of which is a retired engineer.

Thanks to tremendous support from UCLA students, the area
residents and business people, we are a thriving Westwood business.
We are not going "out of business;" on the contrary, we look to our
future in Westwood with both excitement and optimism.

It is clear that Mr. Harwin’s "inside source" is misinformed. I
understand that Mr. Harwin is a student, still learning his
journalistic craft, but if he is irresponsible about what he
reports, he can unfairly hurt people or businesses. He should
verify his facts.

Richard Moore

Vice President of Operations

Westwood Brewing Company
